The Power of the Layering Effect

In my opinion, when it comes to necklaces, the more the merrier. Layering jewelry can take the simplest look and give it an instant boost. For example, skinny jeans and a white tee can seem very casual, but when paired with 3-5 necklaces of different lengths and a classic pump, this casual outfit is suddenly super chic. Whether you choose shorter chains with delicate charms, or longer necklaces with bolder pendants, it’s an effortlessly stylish look.

I’ve learned that some women are afraid to rock this look for fear of drawing attention to the wrong area. But don’t be fooled ladies; layering necklaces actually elongates the body and has a really flattering effect. Always have your shortest one meet your collar bone, the middle one right above your chest, and the longest one about 4 inches longer.

When it comes to choosing your necklaces to layer, there are a million and one options out there. Emerson Ryder , Anita Ko, and Topshop are some of my fav, fav, favs. I AH-dore my good luck charm by Helen Ficalora. She makes so many AH-mazing charms, and they’re perfect for adding to delicate chains. And I’m OB-sessed with my baby shoe charm from Lorraine Schwartz. She actually gave me this necklace when I had Brooksie, and I love, love, love it. This chunky crystal necklace is by Stella & Dot. They are the absolute go-to for fun, chunky costume jewelry. The Somervell necklace can easily be worn by itself as a statement piece, or with other delicate necklaces for a layering effect. Finally, this long gold chain is one of my all time favorite necklaces from I’m Jewel. I wear it every day. It’s super delicate, but its length and design make it really special.
